“Okay! Lets visit Vietnam for real this time” I was telling my travel buddies. Always wanted to visit this neighbour country and this time, I took the lead to purchase our air tickets to Hanoi- Vietnam. Hanoi being my choice as compared to Ho Chi Min because I really wanted to visit Halong Bay and of course I have discovered this beautiful land named – SAPA.
Sapa is a major tourist destination in North Vietnam and a natural starting point for discovering the unique mountainous area. We traveled from Hanoi to Sapa by “Sapaly” overnight express train and spent 2 nights at Topas Ecolodge. The journey took about 8 hours plus where we departed from Hanoi train station at 2100 and reached Lao Cai (Sapa train station) at dawn around 0600.
And this is how the train looks like.
It takes about an hour drive from Lao Cai (sapa ciry) to Topas Ecolodge where free transportation is provided by the hotel, very lovely.
You are able to witness the most of the spectacular views of Sapa as it overlooks plunging valleys, with mountains towering above on all sides. Views are often subdued by thick mist rolling across the peaks, but even when it’s cloudy, local hill-tribe people fill the town with colour.
I couldnt recommend more as I really love the driver who handled our transfer as he drives with care all the time, trying his very best to explain and intro us the beautiful Sapa even with language barrier.
I regret alot not having a picture with him remembering him being very considerate to either drives slower or stop by awhile for me when I was trying hard to take photo of those breathtaking rice paddies along the way :'(
Upon reaching, we were greeted by the locals with a very warm welcome. As we made our way down from the entrance towards our rooms, we cant stop ourselves from woo-wahh-ing for the stunning views
Magnificent views and staffs were very friendly. Our luggages were well taken care of since we first touch down, very lovely! The commitment to integrating with the local environment using local staff, food ingredients and building materials is admirable.
We have booked the “Executive Bungalow” room where it is nicely designed with a sense for detail.
It was wonderful and spacious. Cleanliness from toilet to the comfortable bed was top notch. Not forgetting the amazing view from the balcony where one can look over the valley, making it a definite soothing getaway for the city dwellers.
Note : WIFI is only available in common areas but for us who have rented a pocket wifi, no issues as the connection was still good.=)
And my ootd!^^
Topas Ecolodge is also famous with their fabulous infinity pool where it is heated at 27 degrees. It feels really warm and nice to soak in unlike the usual pool where I easily catch cold. You can even order drinks at the pool and take your time to enjoy the spectacular view from the pool that takes away all your stress, unwinding yourselves from the bustling city.
Speaking about food, there are a fairly good and wide options for us to choose from. Buffet breakfasts were included for both mornings and we had buffet dinner and a la cart for first and second night respectively where all of them was served deliciously.
Most importantly, the pricing of the menu was reasonable and portion was more than adequate for us!
Last but not least, I hope you enjoy reading and feel free to visit topasecolodge.com to view more info. They are very responsive and I couldn’t recommend more for their service!
I will see you in next post then! XOXO
